Some candidates applying for CAT, have very low scores in graduation i.e. Less than 70%. This might not rule them out, but makes their life really difficult. There are certain B-Schools that don't consider Graduation marks in their shortlisting process, try to aim for those colleges. Here is the detailed list of those colleges :
These four colleges don't consider Graduation marks at either Shortlisting or Selection stage :
IIM Calcutta - Just marks Xth & XIIth
FMS - No weightage on past academics
XLRI - No weightage on past academics
IIM Indore - Just marks Xth & XIIth
Following is a list of candidates securing less than 80% in Graduation -
IIM Ahmadabad
If you have Graduation score between 75% and 85%, you score 8 points out of 10 in Graduation, so that gives you realistic chances of getting converted.
If you achieve less than 75% in Graduations, you get just 5 points out of 10 in Graduation, which drastically reduces your chances.
As can be seen in the above sheet, just 2 candidates got calls from IIM Ahmadabad after scoring less than 80% in Graduations.
IIM Bangalore
IIM Bangalore gives 20% weightage to Graduation Marks & 8% weightage to Work Experience.
If anyone has less than 12 months work experience, it is almost impossible to get a call from IIM Bangalore with less than 80% in Graduations.
IIM Bangalore normalises the Graduation scores of various colleges, so even if you score 75% in Grads, but if you're places among the toppers in your stream, rest assured that it would be normalized to good scores.
IIM Lucknow
IIM Lucknow, has 10% weightage for Academic & Gender diversity. This automatically reduces the chances for a GEM Candidate to get in.
IIM Lucknow also gives 10% weightage to Graduation marks & 10 % for work experience.
Thus, someone scoring less than 80% in Graduation has to compensate that with good work experience.
It's almost impossible for a Fresher GEM to get calls from IIM Lucknow with less than 80% in Graduations.
IIM Kozhikode
IIM K has 7.5% weightage for Graduation scores and the scoring starts from 60% to 80%.
So getting a 75% will give you approx 5% weightage & won't make much of a difference in shortlisting.
Even if you have 65% in Graduation, you can expect calls at CAT Percentile of 99.60+ %ile.
SP Jain
They don't really disclose their short-listing criteria, but they do make a lot of profile calls to candidates.
Anyone with a good profile, irrespective of their Graduation scores can expect a call from SP Jain.
MDI
They give Interview calls to GEM Candidates, with even less than 70% graduation, at as low as 95 percentile.
